Speaking of latest replies, in your profile page under "Forum Replies" there's no such option to jump to your post or the latest post. All the things you can click on takes you to the original post.

I've also experienced this several times... being taken to the first page when I wanted to go to the latest reply. Minor annoyance to have to scroll down and click the page numbers. I wish it was more obvious how to jump straight to latest post.

Thanks for the feedback illusionist. Obviously something isn't intuitive, so I want to figure out exactly what it is. Note in the image below that the two links highlighted in red take you to the last reply in the thread, but the one in blue takes you to the first page of the thread. Do you guys feel like the one in blue should just go to latest reply too? I'm wondering whether this, combined with the Reply to Thread issue Daniel mentioned above, is causing the problem. Cheers!

Ben, I find that whenever I post on a thread that has multiple pages I'm taken back to the start of the first page of the thread rather than to the post I've just submitted. I often find that this happens when I visit a thread from a link on another page too.

It's taking you back to the page you were on when you wrote the reply. So since you're clicking Reply to Thread on the first page, that's where it takes you back to. This never happened to me, because I click through to the most recent page before entering my reply at the end of the thread. Once I post it, I'm taken straight to my reply.

I'll see if I can make it so that the user is always taken to the end of the thread when they post a reply.

Wolves In The Throne Room - "Two Hunters" (2007)

Superb atmospheric black metal from Washington USA. Mixes the classic Scandinavian black metal sound of Burzum, Darkthrone & Emperor with the post-metal of Neurosis & Isis & the analogue ambience of Gas & Popol Vuh. Quite possibly the best US black metal release ever recorded.

As for The Others, there is another clan for non-metal releases, but it's hidden from all the views. I'm more than happy to include non-metal releases by otherwise metal bands, but I think the focus of the site would suffer if we started adding purely rock bands or any other genres for that matter. If I start adding Nirvana, Van Halen and Guns N' Roses, I think we've probably gone in a direction we didn't intend to.

Haha, I've heard of RuneScape but not played it. In fact, I tend to stay away from MMORPGs due to my obsessive personality (I prefer to devote my obsessive tendencies to Metal Academy). I think the clan and clan symbols we've created could be applied to lots of games, including Warhammer. Undead would be The North. Demons The Horde. Robots The Sphere. etc. Although you could argue that the Elves and the Undead should both belong to The North.

Actually, I've not told anyone this yet, but I based a lot of my design for this site on the Magic the Gathering card game. I started by trying to attach metal genres to the five colors of magic (below), but soon realised that it was impossible to snugly fit them into five clumps. I even dabbled with the idea of having clans and sub-clans, but that quickly became too complicated. You have no idea how long it took Daniel and I to agree on the clans the way they are. I'm pretty happy with them, particularly as no-one has questioned our decisions. The only thing that bothers me is that The Gateway, The Sphere and The Revolution are extremely difficult to attract new members for. There are a few obvious reasons for that, but I don't think the site would have worked if we just started throwing the likes of Metalcore, Industrial Metal and Alternative Metal into other clans. Hopefully we find some passionate fans of those styles of music.

I do believe it has to do with data that's copied from elsewhere. When I copy reviews from RYM, I paste them into word first and then paste them here by right clicking and selecting Paste as Plan Text. That seems to work every time for me.

But I'll see if there's any way that I can stop it from happening.

Easily one of my favorite albums, and the album that got me into Black Metal! 

Bethlehem - Sardonischer Untergang Im Zeichen Irreligiöser Darbietung

That's a pretty out there album to be your first black metal album, particularly with the extreme vocals. I guess if you come in through that doorway, then a lot of more typical black metal would sound conventional.

Quick note, however. I appreciate your use of the proper conjoined "AE" character, however it makes the band difficult to search for. Most people can't easily type that on a keyboad. If you search "Aether Realm" (as I suspect most would), there are no results.

That's a good point. I've changed it to Aether Realm, and changed Ævangelist to Aevangelist while I was at it.

I love reading these "origin stories" for metal fans. If anyone reading this hasn't done one yet, we'd love to hear from you.

Even though it's noticeably thrashier than Voivod's debut, I still think that "Rrroooaaarrr" sounds much more like Venom, Motorhead & Exciter than Metallica, Slayer or Exodus so it should be retagged as speed metal. Much like "War & Pain", it also offers more than the odd hint at hardcore punk & progressive metal but those elements are not strong enough to warrant a additional tag.

This release has been submitted to the Hall for judgement.

Kayo Dot's debut album "Choirs Of The Eye" is pure post-metal. It's really not all that avant-garde in my opinion. Especially given that the post-metal tag allows for a reasonable amount of experimentation anyway. So I'm proposing that we remove the avant-garde metal tag for reasons of accuracy.

This release has been added to the Hall for judgement.

Messiah's "Hymn To Abramelin" album combines thrash metal with elements of speed metal, black metal, traditional heavy metal & even some doom metal. But there's very little death metal on offer. I don't see that it has any right to be in The Horde so I'd like to see it removed & remain only in The Pit.

Focus is canonically considered a landmark album in death metal. While its current home in Infinite is also appropriate due to the extremely progressive and experimental nature of the music, I feel that Cynic are still enough of a death metal band at their core on this album (harsh vocals everywhere, riffs that would go on to inspire legions of techdeath imitators) to warrant placement in both. Almost feels a shame to not have Focus in the death metal lists.

Any chance you could fill out the Chevelle discography, particularly just by adding the Sci-Fi Crimes and Hats Off To The Bull albums? I don't think they're different enough from the others to warrant being the only ones excluded. Chevelle pretty much always have the same general rock/metal sound.

When I added Chevelle, I didn't have the option to add non-clan releases. Now I do, so I'll sort that out for you this week.
