Welcome to Metal Academy saxystephens! I'm guessing from the name that the saxophone is one of the instruments you play? It's an instrument that is rarely used in metal, although Pan.Thy.Monium proved that it can be done in their classic Khaooohs & Kon-Fus-Ion. Actually that's one of the things that I love about metal. As much as the general population believes that "all metal sounds the same", it's in fact a widely varying genre that contains a heck of a lot of talent, daring and creativity too. Anyway, we built this site so that everyone can have a voice, no matter their background and tastes, and we hope you'll stick around and share yours.
Cheers,
Ben.
Paysage d'Hiver self-titled album is missing.
You're right! I don't know how I managed that, given it's the most cherished release. I will fix that tomorrow.

Gonna assume that they're not getting back together because someone told them to do it. After all, they've been pretty clear in the past that they're not going to do what anyone tells them to do.
Ben, please add HIM (Finland).
I know they're more of a gothic rock band than metal, but the band has some metal in some albums. So please add the albums Venus Doom (which already has Gothic Metal on the top of its genre list in Rate Your Music), Love Metal (even though none of the metal genres that describe this album are on top of its genre list, the album and its title help describe the band's musical genre, so please at least put it in The Fallen and/or The Gateway), and Dark Light (non-metal album between the two aforementioned albums).
Well, one album met the criteria.
Ben, please add Admiral Angry (USA).

Ben, please add these new albums:
Oh, Sleeper - Bloodied / Unbowed
The Contortionist - Our Bones (not in The Revolution but the band used to be, please put that EP in The Infinite)

I agree with that last comment. I could have spent all of my time recruiting, but instead decided that the best thing to do is spend that time adding content. That way when people do visit, they have a more positive experience.
Plus it's actually really fun adding bands / releases.
We would appreciate any "marketing" effort by any members, so would be more than happy for you to give that a go. Daniel and I decided at the outset that we'd make a website that we both personally wanted to use, and we've achieved that, but it would obviously all work much better if we could get the word out and build a bigger community.
Cheers!
Looks like a great list!
One day I will give Power Metal a serious go. I might even devote a month or two to really delving into it and seeing if I can make the connection that has eluded me so far. The themes are right up my alley, being a big fan of fantasy and science fiction. I just have a constant struggle with the lack of darkness and the abundance of cheese.

3. Zornheym (NORTH) - requested by Xephyr

6. Callenish Circle (HORDE)
7. The Accüsed (PIT) - requested by Daniel
8. Space Odyssey (INFINITE, GUARDIANS)
9. Lost in Misery (GUARDIANS, FALLEN)
03. Deathspell Omega - "Kenose" E.P. (2005)02. Burzum - "Filosofem" (1996)
01. Slayer - "Reign In Blood" (1986)
Deathspell Omega at number 3! Kenose should have made a show in my list too. Wasn't thinking about EPs.
IMO, it's the greatest EP in all of metal. High quality throughout, close to album-length, and none of the material appears elsewhere, plus I think the track "II" is their finest moment. It set the bar for EPs and hasn't been beaten.
In fact I edited a couple My Dying Bride albums to play at a 2x faster tempo so they wouldn't sound too slow and doomy for me.
Blasphemy!
Also agreed! I'm going to suggest that Funeral Doom would not gel well with shadowdoom9's tastes.
Of their modern era, Viva Emptiness is my go-to. It has a bleak urban feel to it that pairs well with the crime/noir lyrical concept.
Agreed.
This has finally been fixed. You can now search for either Dillinger Escape Plan or The Dillinger Escape Plan (or any other format you can think of). I'm very pleased, as this has been bugging me for a while.
As well as Katatonia. They're a band I definitely need to spend more time with, I listened to The Great Cold Distance and The Fall of Hearts and really enjoyed them but never really went back.
Katatonia's discography is fairly eclectic, so there's no guarantee that you'll enjoy their early work based on your experience with their modern output. Brave Murder Day is an absolute classic though, and I'm not surprised to find it on Daniel's list as well. If you've ever heard and enjoyed Rapture's Futile, Slumber's Fallout or Enshine's Origin, then it's a no-brainer that you'll love the album that sound originated from.
My list is surprisingly recent, with 11 of the 25 being in the 2010's, which makes sense given my listening habits. Kinda neat.
Mine is very 90s heavy. I think there would be a lot more modern releases, but I just haven't listened to recent stuff anywhere near as much as early metal. Now that Daniel and I have put the Metal Academy podcast on hold, I hope to remedy that.
Very happy to see Fallujah and Bell Witch on your list. There's two bands that I need to spend more time with.
And I forgot about Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine.
