Tell us what's happening in your life

January 10, 2022 03:24 AM

My family & I are currently in the initial stages of relocating interstate from New South Wales to Queensland which includes the sale of our apartment & the purchase of a new one in the Gold Coast. The logistics of this are astronomical in a COVID environment with two little kids at home & both of us working. If I could snap my fingers & travel forwards in time by two months  I wouldn't hesitate.

Well, it's been quite a week. On Monday I turned sixty and today we had my dad's funeral. I guess that's the end of another of life's chapters. Anyway, onto the next then.

January 26, 2022 02:13 PM

Happy two days after your birthday, Sonny, and once again, so sorry to hear your dad's gone. RIP... I just had my birthday yesterday, and on that day, I was in an interview/photoshoot for the book series that I write, in support of a diversity campaign from a company who insist they be kept private for the time being. So that's a unique start of the next age chapter of my life.

Thanks for the best wishes. That sounds really interesting Andi, all the best of luck.

Thanks, Sonny!

So, I've finally decided to get out of the rat race. Been giving it a lot of thought for a while now and then I got into a blazing row with my boss on Wednesday and thought "Fuck it, I've had enough of this shit" and put my notice in today. Gonna give early retirement a chance and see how it goes. Looking forward to it now!

Good luck with that.  Think how many albums you can listen to and review now!

I'm working on the next installment of the book series that I write, and it's an activity book. We also started selling reprinted copies of the first book in the series.

Congratulations Sonny. That's an exciting lifestyle change alright.

My family are taking one ourselves actually. We sold our two bedroom apartment on the Northern Beaches of Sydney a week & a half ago & then bought a five bedroom house with a big pool on the Gold Coast in Queensland. We'll be moving up there in early April.

That sounds fantastic, Daniel. That sort of place us ordinary folk can only dream about in a cramped island like Great Britain. I sincerely hope you and your family will be happy there - and why wouldn't you, it sounds like heaven!

Hope you and your family will enjoy your new home, Daniel!

I am no longer a number... I'm a free man!

So that's it, my last day of work completed and now I can get on with the rest of my life.

I'm free, free I tell you!!

February 25, 2022 03:03 PM

Congrats, Sonny!!! Enjoy your freedom!

February 25, 2022 09:15 PM

The hour is at hand Sonny. The moment where the three moons of Cthulhu are aligned for the first time. Feel the strength & power of the Ancient Ones (our true rulers) surge through your veins for your time of metal glory is finally upon us. May we all cower & recoil from your ascendance to the dark throne as it been written for eons past. May the ten thousand minions of Hell bow down to the majesty of the undying flame of Lord Sonny as your inevitable destiny eventuates in emphatic fashion while all but the most feeble & cowardous watch on in awe. Oh, it is a truly glorious day that shall be spoken of only in whispers, passed down through a millennia of unrelenting darkness. A reign that shall never end. A reign that shall define our very existence.

Good man.  Been thinking a lot about how I could retire early via making some moves in investments but then we had a nuclear cock comparison contest and the world went to shit thanks to some maniac with a God complex and suddenly it feels the wrong time.

February 25, 2022 11:29 PM

Thank you all. Sometimes it seems like a miracle I've made it this far, yet here I still am, bowed but undefeated. Looking forward to spending a bit more time with the monthly features and those pesky playlists now so don't expect me to just fade away!

At the third attempt, my partner of some 15 years and I will be getting married in October.  I proposed back in 2019 in New York and we have had to move dates twice already because of COVID.  This is going to be my second marriage and her first with both of us well into our forties.  This means that I am currently spending most weekends at Wedding Fayres listening to sales people sell me things - as a sales person myself, this really is hard to digest for me, but needs must - as we try and get prepared ahead of October (providing Putin doesn't kill us all by then of course).  Today's fayre attendance saw me hire two casino tables and croupiers for the evening (no real money being used of course with there being kids around).  There's only two things left for me to sort, my suits and my stag do.  Nice and simple.

A weekend in Edinburgh should cover the stag do.  I am not letting my best man sort it because - good mate though he is - he is useless at life in general.  Can also see the suit fitting day ending up in a pub crawl around Liverpool - well would be rude not to, right?

Congratulations, both my parents retired recently and they've been doing great, so I can see how freeing it is. Keep up those hobbies obviously, boredom is the true killer even though we have so many things at our fingertips nowadays.

Sadly my work's just starting as I have to study for my PE exam (Principles/Practice of Engineering) for the next...8 months or so on top of all my other work. Gonna be a real long process.

Thanks Xephyr. Boredom shouldn't be an issue now I've actually got time to do the things I've wanted to for a long time. The real boredom for me was sitting around unable to start much whilst waiting to go to work.

Good luck with the exam and wishing you much success.

Amazing news Vinny! Congratulations from not only Metal Academy & its members but also the entire global metal community. We shall all celebrate by getting drunk & rowdy, raising our death claws to the sky & shouting the wrong lyrics to Manowar battle anthems

So life is all a bit difficult this week. My wife & two daughters all have COVID so I've been stuck in our two bedroom apartment in isolation for the past 5-6 days. I'm still testing negative but it'll be disastrous if I test positive in the coming days as we've got to be out of our apartment with all of our belongings being moved into storage by Friday's settlement with the new owner. We'll be staying in a serviced apartment in the city for a week while we wait for the settlement of our new home on the Gold Coast on 7th April. I'm so looking forward to this relocation being over & done with so that I can go back to focusing solely on the extreme stresses that my everyday job has been presenting me with of late.

Since opening everything up here in the UK, I now hear of more and more people with COVID than ever.  I have managed to avoid it for the entire time there's been the pandemic but as I am increasingly encouraged to get back out on the road in face to face meetings I fear my vaccines will be tested.

We are away in Wales for a couple of days from tomorrow for my fiancée's birthday in some fancy spa hotel.  I won't have any treatments but there's a hot tub on our balcony (she's booked the penthouse suite - my credit card is crying) so I will just chill in the room whilst she goes and gets her treatments.  Work phone and laptop will be in the luggage unfortunately (I don't ever get to be entirely "off-work" really) but at least I will not be sat looking at them all day.

Need a break though, having had my eldest cat put to sleep in the last fortnight we need to get some relaxing time in.  I don't have kids, I have cats so the loss of any of them is fucking awful for us.
