Track Of The Day - The Guardians Edition
A fast heavy metal standout by Grand Magus:
A true symphonic trance metal anthem, so heavy and theatrical:
A true grand experience of every old and new thing DragonForce has done, with some of the most adventurous ideas the band has had to date:
An Alestorm-esque heavy/power metal anthem worth singing along to:
As I'm slowly rebuilding my power metal interest again thanks to one of my outside-world friends, going an entire life without listening to this band would be a sin for any fan of dark power metal:
The perfect climax of Wintersun's debut with epic majesty in the music and lyrics:
My favorite track from Time I with melodic beauty in the riffing and orchestration that can please metalheads with its swaying melancholy:
After revisiting a couple Wintersun releases yesterday, today I decided to listen to last year's instrumental single "Warning". I know not a lot of people like this sudden cyber djent twist in symphonic metal, but I do. This totally reminds me of Mechina and Neurotech, and I've listened to enough of those two bands to be used to this. Just be aware that the upcoming Time II is never going to take on that kind of style, since the majority of that album was recorded many years prior.
A true symphonic blessing with the right balance of guitar and orchestra:
A song from Megadeth's 1994 album Youthanasia was re-recorded with greater energy and guest vocalist by Lacuna Coil vocalist Cristina Scabbia:
Canadian female-fronted power metal, though they mixed the genre with melodeath in the albums before this one:
Another song by Jeris Johnson, this one being a spooky blend of Avenged Sevenfold-style heavy metal and trap. If you're wondering if that chorus melody sounds familiar, it's that Arabian riff! It also me reminds of Kesha's "Take It Off" which uses the Arabian riff in the chorus as well.
Another powerful highlight from Trail of Tears' comeback EP:
This highlight from Jeris Johnson's Dragonborn is a total rocker. Sure there's a bit of the electro-trap in the verses, but it's outshined by the heavy/power metal that makes its entrance in the chorus, along with a brief groove metal breakdown that you might hear from Lamb of God.
A short mid-tempo banger of a ballad without too much of the overproduction from the longer epics later on in the album:
Having just listened to the fan-made Loded Diper album, I gotta admit how much I enjoy the official songs from the Wimpy Kid movies, especially this mid-tempo heavy metal/hard rock banger from the live-action Rodrick Rules movie:
And this fun hard rock/glam/heavy metal tune from the animated Disney+ movie that I wish was in the album:
The sequel track to one of the only enjoyable tracks in Set the World on Fire is so beautiful and one of my favorite songs by Black Veil Brides:
I've just listened to this Powerwolf track while looking at the full moon in the night sky outside my home. With that and the fact that it's Halloween month, it's the ultimate spookiness!
A catchy melodic heavy metal highlight to sing along to:
The first full song of Empyrean has some of the best riffing and symphonics you can find here. Keep that in mind before the atmosphere takes the focus elsewhere.
A truly dark ethereal collision of symphonic/cyber metal:
