Track Of The Day - The Horde Edition

I completely agree. I had no contact with In Flames after "Whoracle" while I took some extended time off from the metal scene during the late 90's & most of the 2000's but when I returned to them I found them to be something altogether different & nowhere near as appealing.
Hands down one of the best death metal tracks of all time, menacing and memorable without question.
^^ I'm one of those guys that thinks MA never topped the debut. The drum sound is to die for.
No one did Dwightfryed. "Altars Of Madness" is as perfect a record as the death metal scene has produced in my opinion.
Agreed. Although Blessed Are the Sick has a very special place for me also.
Day 2
Another melodeath classic! Why isn't Edge of Sanity credited as one of the Swedish melodeath pioneers?
Amongst the finest examples of brutal death metal that I've ever experienced. Quite possibly THE best actually.
Another example of early Tiamat when they were still death-doom, but here they're more death than doom with a black metal vibe.
Slam/brutal death metal from Laos.
Arch Enemy? I haven't heard that name in years... Maybe someday I'll try listening to some more of this band again. Female-fronted melodeath at its best!
A classic death 'n' roll track from the originators of the subgenre.
A powerful track in the latest offering from one of the originators of melodeath, At the Gates! Of course, this album can never knock Slaughter of the Soul off its throne.
LA grindcore at its absolute best.
Children of Bodom is another melodeath band that I haven't listened to for so long. This song is from their earlier epic black/death days. If Alexi Laiho can no longer legally use the "Children of Bodom" name, why not revert back to the original name, Inearthed? Just askin'... RIP COB classic lineup
Amongst the greatest examples of the Swedish melodic death metal sound you'll find.
Great song choice, Daniel! True Swedish melodeath from one of the originators of that genre.
I saw a guy wearing a Rivers of Nihil shirt last month and that made me interested in this band, but I didn't get to listen to them due to other busy stuff....until now. Djenty progressive death metal with a bit of saxophone!
I loved this album and was one of my favorites in 2018 since Metal didn't have too much going for it that year, but after listening to it so much the mixing on the drums was just too much for me. They just stick out like a sore thumb after a while. I still enjoy the album, but definitely not as much as I used to.
Life-changing Canadian tech death metal with a shit-tonne of atmosphere.
Early UK grindcore/thrashcore ala Napalm Death, Heresy, Carcass & Terrorizer.
A genuine melodeath classic from the originators of the subgenre.
I've gone through a marathon of reviewing 5 Dark Tranquillity albums today as part of my Horde Clan Challenge strategy. Impressive, huh? Here's a melodeath classic:
