The idea behind the Hall of Judgement is to give site members the opportunity to vote on which genre(s) and/or clan(s) a particular release should belong to. If you feel that a release shouldn't be where it currently is, create a new thread here in the Judgement Submissions section. Make sure you're clear about what you think should happen, and provide brief summary as to why. It's your task to convince other site members that your opinion is the correct one.

Once you've stated your case, an admin will either enter the release into the Hall of Judgement or ask for clearer / more information.

This Leaves' Eyes EP has 5 tracks in which 4 of them show the last of the band's earlier symphonic gothic metal. However, the Celtic metal tag is a little too much as the Celtic elements present aren't really enough to constitute the tag, only highly used in the acoustic version of "Legend Land". With that, I'd like to submit Leaves' Eyes' "Melusine" to be removed to The North and Celtic metal while staying in The Fallen and The Guardians.

The first 3 Leaves' Eyes albums have more of a symphonic gothic metal sound as opposed to the folk-infused symphonic metal in subsequent releases. These two albums exemplify their earlier sound with upbeat melodies and symphonics mixed with the dark and melancholic atmosphere of gothic metal. So I'd like to send Leaves' Eyes' "Vinland Saga" and "Njord" to the Hall to be added to The Fallen and gothic metal while maintaining The Guardians and symphonic metal.

Throughout the second half of their career, Stray from the Path has blended metalcore with rap metal in a similar vein to Attila, and Internal Atomics is no exception (and needless to say, one of the only perfect rap metal albums for me). There are plenty of hip-hop elements in both the instrumentation and the vocals that are closer to rap-shouting. So I'd like to submit Stray from the Path's "Internal Atomics" to The Hall to be added to The Gateway and rap metal while staying in The Revolution and metalcore.

Although this Equilibrium album shows the band taking on more of a trance-filled melodeath direction, I still hear the earlier epic folk metal roots throughout. The keyboards may be more electronic, but they often make way for the epic orchestral folk of all their other albums along with Ensiferum. With that, I'd like to submit Equilibrium's "Renegades" to be added to The North and folk metal while staying in The Horde and melodic death metal.

As much as I recognize the epic keyboard orchestration in this release, I don't think it's worth considering it symphonic metal. The keyboards mixed with accordion and native folk instruments give the album more folk metal vibes than symphonic, and there's not really enough heavy/power metal instrumentation to qualify in The Guardians, unlike their albums afterwards and their first two. So I'd like to send Ensiferum's "One Man Army" to the Hall to be removed from The Guardians while maintaining its position in The North.

The first two Ensiferum albums, with frontman Jari Mäenpää (Wintersun), I believe have more of a folk/power metal sound, like their 2020s albums and unlike the strictly epic folk metal of the albums in between. There's enough fast melodic guitarwork, anthemic hooks, and fantasy-ish lyrics in many tracks to justify adding them to power metal. So I'd like to submit Ensiferum's 2001 self-titled debut and "Iron" to the Hall to be added to The Guardians and power metal while staying in The North and folk metal.

The Arbitrary Method's sole EP showcases a diverse mix of industrial/cyber metal and metalcore, and a small bit of nu metal. As far as groove metal goes, sure some songs have more midtempo groove to go with the heaviness and growls, but that heaviness lies within their futuristic take on the 2000s era of metalcore and, to a lesser extent, nu metal. So I'd like to send The Arbitrary Method's "Augmentation" to the Hall to be removed to The Pit and groove metal while maintaining its position in its other clans.

An Abstract Illusion has always had their atmospheric progressive melodeath sound, and their debut EP is no exception. The progressive complexity is blended with the fast guitarwork, melodic soloing, and blast beats of melodic death metal. So I'd like to submit An Abstract Illusion's "Atonement Is Nigh" to the Hall to be added to The Horde as melodic death metal while keeping its existing position in The Infinite and progressive metal.

The 3rd album by Wolves at the Gate continues the post-hardcore/metalcore sound the band has had since VxV and would reach its peak in later albums. Many of the songs have the crushing riffing, screamed vocals, and/or occasional breakdowns of metalcore, enough for the genre's prominence to shine. So I'd like to submit Wolves at the Gate's "Types & Shadows" to be added to The Revolution and metalcore.

The brand-new VoidCeremony album is what I would consider a potential progressive tech-death adventure. Several tracks have the expansive sounds and complex structures of progressive metal, alongside the deathly aggression. With that, I'd like to submit VoidCeremony's "Abditum" to the Hall to be added to The Infinite and progressive metal while staying in The Horde and technical death metal.

The Lisa Middelhauve era of Xandria (their first 4 albums) has more of a symphonic gothic metal sound as opposed to the symphonic power metal in subsequent releases. These two albums exemplify their earlier sound with upbeat melodies and symphonics mixed with the dark and melancholic atmosphere of gothic metal. So I'd like to send Xandria's "Ravenheart" and "Salomé: The Seventh Veil" to the Hall to be added to The Fallen and gothic metal while maintaining The Guardians and symphonic metal.

Novembers Doom has always been known for their gothic death-doom sound, but Into Night's Requiem Infernal sounds more deathly than their other works. Many songs have the fast guitarwork and melodic soloing of melodic death metal. So I'd like to submit Novembers Doom's "Into Night's Requiem Infernal" to the Hall to be added to The Horde as melodic death metal while keeping its existing position in The Fallen and death doom metal.

I consider Green Carnation's debut album to be progressive metal mixed with gothic doom. Sure we have the progressive complexity and structure of these 15-20 minute epics, but there's also the slow tempos and downtuned guitars of doom metal and the more melodic and upbeat while still dark and melancholic atmosphere of gothic metal. So I'd like to send Green Carnation's "Journey to the End of the Night" to the Hall with two entries to be added to the Fallen as 1. doom metal and 2. gothic metal, while maintaining its position in The Infinite and progressive metal.

The brand-new Coroner album continues their progressive tech-thrash sound from Mental Vortex. Several tracks have the expansive sounds and complex structures of progressive metal, alongside the thrash aggression. With that, I'd like to submit Coroner's "Dissonance Theory" to the Hall to be added to The Infinite while staying in The Pit. And I'd like to encourage Pit members to vote in the technical thrash metal subgenre.

Orbit Culture has always had their melodeath/groove metal sound, and their two new releases are no exception. The band still hasn't let go of the fast guitarwork, melodic soloing, and blast beats, all common in melodic death metal. So I'd like to submit Orbit Culture's "The Forgotten" and "Death Above Life" to the Hall to be added to The Horde as melodic death metal while keeping its existing position in The Pit and groove metal.

Orbit Culture has always had their melodeath/groove metal sound, and their 3rd album Nija is no exception. The heavier riffing and mid-tempo pace has more in common with groove metal, blended with the melodic but not overly melodic death metal riffing. So I'd like to submit Orbit Culture's "Nija" to the Hall to be added to the Pit as groove metal while maintaining its position in The Horde and melodic death metal.

Manchester, UK act, Holy Scum are tagged as sludge in The Fallen clan when in reality they are more of an improv rock/noise rock collective.  Therefore I propose the album loses its Fallen status and sludge tag and is added to non-metal.

Although the debut album by Zaraza is quite experimental, I don't hear any of the wacky experimentation and unorthodox instruments of avant-garde metal. This is really just the band's usual industrial death-doom. With that, I'd like to submit Zaraza's "Slavic Blasphemy" to the Hall to be removed from The Infinite while keeping its position in The Fallen and The Sphere. And I'd like to encourage Fallen members to vote in the death-doom subgenre.

I consider this Deathrite EP more than just blackened crust, more like hardcore/blackened death 'n' roll. Many of the tracks have the deathly heaviness and old-school-sounding melody of death 'n' roll, and the tremolos and higher vocals of black metal, enough to qualify for both of those genres. So I'd like to submit Deathrite's "Delirium" to the Hall with two entries to be added to 1. The Horde as death 'n' roll, and 2. The North as black metal.

Cream Abdul Babar is an experimental noisecore band, while Teen Cthulthu combines metalcore with symphonic black metal. They don't have anything related to heavy/power metal-based symphonic metal, and therefore this release doesn't belong in The Guardians. So I'd like to send the 2003 "Cream Abdul Babar / Teen Cthulhu" split to the Hall to be removed from The Guardians while maintaining its position in The North and The Revolution.

Blessthefall's debut album, and their only one with vocalist Craig Mabbitt before he left and later joined Escape the Fate, may be more of a post-hardcore album, but there's a lot of their later metalcore in the album's sound. Many of the songs have the crushing riffing, screamed vocals, and/or occasional breakdowns of metalcore, enough for the genre's prominence to shine. So I'd like to submit Blessthefall's "His Last Walk" to be added to The Revolution and metalcore.

These two albums by Iron Fire have some classic heavy metal as part of their sound, side-by-side with their usual power metal. Many tracks here are more mid-tempo and have more classic anthemic-sounding insturmentation, as opposed to the fast melodic style of power metal. So I'd like to send Iron Fire's "Blade of Triumph" and "To the Grave" to the Hall to be added to heavy metal while staying in power metal.

3 Inches of Blood have always had their heavy/power metal sound, and this album is no exception. There's enough fast melodic guitarwork, anthemic hooks, and fantasy-ish lyrics in many tracks to justify adding the album to power metal. So I'd like to submit 3 Inches of Blood's "Here Waits Thy Doom" to the Hall to be added to power metal while maintaining its position in heavy metal.

The first 3 Conception albums I believe have more of a progressive power metal sound, as opposed to the strictly melodic progressive metal sound of subsequent albums. There's enough fast melodic guitarwork, anthemic hooks, and fantasy-ish lyrics in many tracks to justify adding the albums to power metal. So I'd like to submit Conception's "The Last Sunset", "Parallel Minds", and "In Your Multitude" to the Hall to be added to The Guardians and power metal while staying in The Infinite and progressive metal.

Lord of the Lost started having a full-on symphonic metal direction in their latest album, but they still have their usual gothic/industrial metal. The dark melodic guitarwork and electronics of those two genres still aren't out of the picture. So I'd like to send Lord of the Lost's "Opvs Noir Vol. 1" to the Hall with two submissions to be:

1. Added to The Fallen and gothic metal.

2. Added to The Sphere and industrial metal.

All while staying in The Guardians and symphonic metal.

I've just given this release some listening and a review to continue exploring some progressive-ish melodic black/death after my experience with Shylmagoghnar's Emergence, and while it is a blackened death metal album, there's still enough melody for this still to still be melodic black metal. If this was added to The Horde and I was in that clan, I would vote in the melodic death metal subgenre. I also hear a lot of progressiveness in this offering as well, at times sounding like a blend of the mid-2000s eras of Enslaved, Leprous, and Opeth, so I would definitely vote YES for the entry of adding this album to The Infinite.

Listening to this again for the purpose of this hall.  Some of these tracks have some major metal energy, pre-NWOBHM technique aside, and it completely appeals to my metal side.  Considering how many different types of metal we get, I feel that it would be unfair to call this just "hard rock."  Apologies, but I'll be voting no for this one.

I've passed "Odyssey (un)Dead" uncontested & have created this Hall of Judgement entry for "In Waking: Divinity":
