What Are the 10 Most Essential Guardians Songs?
I enjoyed the essential song exercise started by Saxy in The Infinite thread enough for me to do the same with the other clans, starting with my own. Feel free to join in, as long as you follow the rules like in Saxy's thread:
10 songs with any sort of affiliation with the clan.
NOT just the superior genre or subgenre, you can include any of them.
This is a general list for any metalhead, whether or not you have experience with the genres in the clan.
Here's mine (mostly power/symphonic/neoclassical metal while sneaking in some classic heavy metal):
1. DragonForce - "Through the Fire and Flames"
2. Blind Guardian - "The Bard's Song" (FULL SUITE, not just "In the Forest")
3. Nightwish - "Nemo"
4. Accept - "Fast as a Shark"
5. Savatage - "Hall of the Mountain King"
6. Kamelot - "Center of the Universe"
7. Iced Earth - "Dante's Inferno"
8. Sonata Arctica - "FullMoon"
9. Rhapsody of Fire - "Emerald Sword"
10. Riot - "Thundersteel"

Is it possible to talk about essential Guardians tracks and have nothing from Black Sabbath, Judas Priest OR Iron Maiden?
If most of the list is full of power/symphonic/neoclassical metal as opposed to classic heavy metal, yes.

So it's not an essential Guardians list then, just a specific sub-group within it?
Hmm... Well if I give classic heavy metal a greater appearance in my list with new additions based on importance, here's what it would be:
1. DragonForce - "Through the Fire and Flames"
2. Judas Priest - "Breaking the Law"
3. Black Sabbath - "Children of the Grave"
4. Accept - "Fast as a Shark"
5. Iron Maiden - "The Trooper"

So is that your true list Andi? I mean until Sonny made a passing comment (which I believe was in jest) your list was quite different as you had identified that a specific category of the clan was your preferred list. To me it just looks like you changed it because of what you may have perceived to be peer pressure? Not saying that was Sonny's intent btw.
I know it wasn't Sonny's intent, but the second list I made is if I hypothetically add in a few classic heavy metal hits. The first with mostly power/symphonic/neoclassical metal is still my true list.
Just to clarify, I would never attempt to apply pressure on someone to change their view or opinion on something as subjective as music. My intent was to clarify what we were aiming to achieve in my own mind, as I thought the point was to pick ten tracks that we personally liked, but that gave an overall sense of the clan in question to someone who was unfamiliar with it. Hence my own list included tracks by Manowar, Helloween and Nightwish that, though I do actually enjoy those tracks, would never get near a "My Top Ten Guardians Tracks" list, but do cover the whole Guardians spectrum at least to some extent.
In addition, if anyone does feel pressured by anything I post please feel free to tell me to fuck off.
