The New Music Thread : The Fallen Edition
No is brilliant, but only a couple of songs are metal, the majority are fast-as-hell crust and hardcore punk - which is OK by me, but if you are expecting Feedbacker, then it isn't that.
The new album from M.S.W., who is the guy behing US sludge / doom outfit Hell, is amazing.
This is one of the most bizarre and oddly satisfying records I've heard that can fall into the "drone" category. Neptunian Maximalism and their debut album Éons. The "metal" elements might be sparse, and certainly so on the third act, but this felt really well done and I had to share it. Review is also up.

I checked out Nepunian Maximalism last week and it's a journey. I'm going to have to give it another shot to see if it holds up to my initial reactions, which were really, really positive. This is such a unique album that anyone who keeps up with modern music shouldn't miss.
The new single from US doom metallers Pallbearer entitled "Forgotten Days". It's taken from their upcoming album of the same name which is due for release on 23rd October i.e. my wife's 40th birthday. Coincidence? I think not.
Japanese drone/stoner/noise phenomenon Boris have just released their "Archive II" set which includes a trio of compilations containing unreleased demo material: Volume Zero "Early Demo" (1993-96), Volume Four "Evil Stack Live" (2003) & Volume Five "Pink Days" (2006).

A teaser from the upcoming live release from Swedish doom metal outfit Atarvarium entitled "An Evening With Avatarium - Live in Stockholm January 2020" (due for release tomorrow).
Void Rot's debut album, Descending Pillars is cavernous and menacing old-school death / doom similar to Atavisma with whom they shared a split earlier in the year.
Released September 11th on Everlasting Spew:
Brazilians Jupiterian release their third full-length, Protosapien, Sept 11th on Transcending Obscurity Records.
Crushing death doom / sludge that comes from the abyssal depths.
Another decent album released Sept 11th - trad doom with a 1970's hard rock swagger from Michigan's Cruthu.
A band new to me is Canadian doomsters The White Swan, who feature alt-metal band Kittie's drummer Mercedes Lander on vocals, guitar, keyboards and drums.
They have a four-track EP called Nocturnal Transmision released September 18th that is pretty damn good:
The latest single from Pallbearer's upcoming Forgotten Days album:
The new single from Justin Broadrick's Jesu project entitled "When I Was Small".
A track from the brand new My Dying Bride E.P. (entitled "Macabre Cabaret") which is due for release on 20th November.
Just got round to listening to Hexer's new album. Their combination of sludge and Autopsy/Winter-like death doom sets them apart from the slew of cookie cutter doom clones doing the rounds:
A couple of tracks from the new Melvins E.P. which is entitled "Mullet". They've actually gone with the "Melvins 1983" moniker on this occasion as the release features their 1983 lineup including their original drummer Mike Dillard.
The brand new Jesu single "Alone" which is taken from their upcoming "Terminus" album as it's due for release on 13th November.
The new video clip from Swedish gothic doom/death outfit Draconian.
The new collaboration album between LA sludge metal establishment Thou & Red Sparowes front woman Emma Ruth Rundle.
The brand new Belgian collaborative single from post metal outfit Amenra & dark ambient producer Kreng.
