Do We Need Music Now More Than Ever?

I had, over the last few weeks, become very distracted by world events, to the point where it started really getting to me and making things like listening to and talking about music seem irrelevant. However, over the last couple of days as things seem to be spiralling ever more out of control, I have come to the conclusion that things like losing oneself in music (or any other art form for that matter) is not only for easy times, but may, in fact, be even more important to a person's well-being when everything seems to be turning to shit.

So, as we in Europe in particular, seem to be grinding inevitably towards some sort of major military conflict, do you think music appreciation is more or less important than in "normal" times?

I would have to agree, particularly given the fact that I've had no power in my home for the last four days. The only solace I've had was to play pre-downloaded music through a battery-powered bluetooth device while I tried to keep my three young daughters entertained with zero assistance when it was unsafe to leave the house. It's really made me value to role that music plays in my life as it's simply essential.

“Information is not knowledge.

Knowledge is not wisdom.

Wisdom is not truth.

Truth is not beauty.

Beauty is not love.

Love is not music.

Music is THE BEST.”
