Finally Lemmy's Hometown Erects A Statue of Him
Finally and long overdue, the town of Burslem in North Staffordshire (UK) erects a statue to the town's true music legend. No, not Robbie fuckin Williams, but Lemmy Kilmister who was born in the town on xmas eve in 1945. I have been advocating this for ages and on May 8th it will be unveiled in the town centre (about four miles from where I live). This will undoubtedly be the best thing in Burslem because, sadly the place has turned into a right dump in recent years.
Motorhead headlined the Heavy Metal Holocaust in the summer of 1981 about half a mile from the town centre at Port Vale FC's football stadium. I had just moved to the area and couldn't afford a ticket so my girlfriend and I tried to sneak in through a gap in the fence some kid outside showed us, but got chased off by security and a police dog! Went home and sat in the back with a beer and listened for free anyway.
Here's a pic of the statue photoshopped onto the town centre from the BBC website.
Fuck Yes! Cheers!
