Give Me the BEST songs to represent the metal spirit.
You can define that as whatever you want, and all subgenres are accepted (except glam metal unless a glam metal song is just that metal). And if you don't wanna get philosophical about it, just give me "the most metal songs" you can think of.
The best examples I have so far IMO are:
1. Judas Priest - Painkiller
2. Metallica - Master of Puppets
3. Hell - Metnal
4. Slayer - Raining Blood
5. My Dying Bride - The Raven and the Rose
And I might include Nomos Nebuleam for a more personal opinion due to perfectly capturing the more "astral" side of metal.
8. Detroit Rock City-Kiss
7. The Last Command-WASP
6. Caught in a Most-Anthrax
5. Children of the Grave-Black Sabbath
4. Hellraiser-Ozzy+Lemmy
3. Motorbreath-Metallica
2. Warriors of the World United-Manowar
1. Black Metal-Venom
Well, Judas Priest's "Painkiller" is certainly the one that best represents it & immediately springs to mind but I'm also gonna add Bestial Warlust's "At the Graveyard of God" & Bathory's "Blood Fire Death".
In no particular order:
Motorhead - Overkill
Slayer - Raining Blood
Darkthrone - In the Shadow of the Horns
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Diamond Head - Am I Evil?
Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Autopsy - In the Grip of Winter
