March 2024 - Feature Release - The Revolution Edition
So just like that we find that a new month is upon us which of course means that we’ll be nominating a brand new monthly feature release for each clan. This essentially means that we’re asking you to rate, review & discuss our chosen features for no other reason than because we enjoy the process & banter. We’re really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on our chosen releases so don’t be shy.
This month’s feature release for The Revolution has been nominated by myself. It's 1992's "All Out War" E.P. from New York metalcore godfathers Earth Crisis, a release that I first heard many years ago when I was a still taking my first tentative steps into the metalcore sound. I'll be interested to see if my defenses are a little more open to its charms in 2024.

This Earth Crisis EP is a decent start to their career and early example of the metallic hardcore sound the band is known for, but not as much impact as their subsequent releases. More info in my short review here: https://metal.academy/reviews/30122/45462
I have to admit that I, even though "All Out War" certainly isn't as bad as I originally thought it was, it's still not something that I can see myself ever feeling like revisiting again. It sounds more like a demo than a proper release with the production & performances being pretty scratchy. The vocals are enjoyable when they get super-aggressive but they can also be a bit lucklustre at other times. The riffs are pretty generic for the most part too. There's nothing horrible here but there's also not much to write home about either.
