8-Track Themes "When Hell Freezes Over"

1) We begin with 8 tracks centered around a theme. This theme is "When Hell Freezes Over" and the idea here was to create a cold, evil, pagan atmosphere, old-school Black Metal Style.

This is the original 8-Track Set:

1. Carpathian Forest "Cold Murder Music"

2. Burzum "War"

3. Nargaroth "Possessed by Black Fucking Metal"

4. Satyricon "Mother North"

5. Immortal "Blashyrkh-Mighty Ravendark"

6. Darkthrone "In the Shadow of the Horns"

7. Mayhem "Freezing Moon"

8. Bathory "One Rode to Asa Bay"

2) What you want to do now is take that same theme, but replace, reorder, add, drop, and discuss around the theme. The idea is to simulate listening parties, build community, and have a good time.

Great set Zero. Another one where I don't really want to change anything.

But, CF are probably the weakest of a great bunch and I will replace them with Sargeist's BFM which just about sums up the cold hatred and pure evil of the best scandi-BM.

Having that particular Carpathian Forest track on here has to do with being a Detroiter and therefore a sucker for those dark hip-hop inspired beats. I also played black metal with a saxophonist friend of mine for a time, so it checks that box as well I have to get home to hear the Sargeist track. I'll get back to you on it.

I've opted to replace Burzum's "War" because I've always thought it was decidedly shithouse & noticeably breaks up the flow of the debut album. In its place, I've gone for a really obscure one in Holy Moses' "Satan's Angel" which is taken from their 1982 demo tape of the same name. I wanted to highlight this one as I feel that it's the true root of the black metal genre.
