I don't think I will be reviewing this one any time soon, as my own thoughts echoed so well here. I've never understood the backlash this record received, with the only significant issue I can think of being the production thereof. While I can absolutely get on board with what they were going for (there is a certain pleasant dryness to the tone that reminds me of albums I really like the sound of: Thresholds, Victims of Deception & ...and Justice for All), somewhere, something went wrong and for a reason I can't quite pinpoint, the record gets tiring on the ears after any longer exposure. Hence, I usually approach it on one-side-at-a-time basis. Besides that, however, I find Stillborn to be as good (at times even better—the title track in particular might be my favorite from the band) as the first two, and the last real classic Malevolent Creation release that every fan ought to give a second chance. Oh, and I absolutely adore the album art & wear it proudly on one of my favorite shirts!
