October 2025 - Feature Release - The Horde Edition

As my nomination for October's featured release for The Horde, I wanted to highlight the debut full-length from the Netherlands' Gorefest, "Mindloss" from 1991. The record has great, meaty production and structures itself around groovy, mid-paced riffs that should appeal primarily to fans of bands like Asphyx & Bolt Thrower. That said, I feel there are enough faster parts and melodic solos mixed in to pique the interest of more general classic death metal fans too.

Personally, I find "Mindloss" a touch underrated (well, minus the ugly cover artwork!) & would love to hear your opinion as well. Happy listening!

I've always quite liked "Mindloss" since first picking it up through the tape trading scene during the early 1990's. I think I probably reach for the 1992 follow-up "False" a little more regularly when I feel like a Gorefest hit but both are certainly worth a listen.
