For last month's Fallen feature release, The Gathering's "Mandylion", Sonny said that it's more of a 70s-inspired progressive metal album than a Fallen release. While I agree that The Gathering had a more progressive sound starting in the second half of the 90s, I think it's actually their last metal album Nighttime Birds that has a more progressive metal sound, looking back at that album. While sharing the same instrumentation and atmosphere as Tiamat's Wildhoney, the 70s prog/psychedelic influences in that Tiamat album aren't as much as in this album in the atmosphere and instrumentation. With that, I'd like to submit The Gathering's "Nighttime Birds" to the Hall to be added to The Infinite while maintaining its position in The Fallen.
