maudlin of the Well's "Leaving Your Body Map"
maudlin of the Well's classic 2001 album "Leaving Your Body Map" is generally referred to as having a foot in both the progressive metal & avant-garde metal camps however I'd like to dispute its eligibility for the latter. Sure there are a couple of tracks that sit pretty comfortably under the avant-garde metal banner (see "Stones Of October's Sobbing" & "The Curve That To An Angel Turn'd") but I don't hear much that sounds particularly unusual across the remaining eight tracks with the death metal, doom/death & various folk music inclusions all fitting fairly snuggly under the overarching progressive metal banner. For that reason I'd like to see the avant-garde metal tag removed from this release with the progressive metal one left as the sole subgenre.
This release has been added to the Hall of Judgement.
