Jeris Johnson's "Dragonborn" should be under power metal
The new album by Jeris Johnson, Dragonborn is considered heavy metal/melodic metalcore. While many different genres are mixed together here, trap metal, and power metal show up the most, enough to reside with those two main genres. For power metal, many songs in the album have the heavy yet melodic, often speedy, theatrical and anthemic vibe of the genre, and if not in the music, definitely in the lyrics that are mostly fantasy-based. Here's my genre analysis for the 13 tracks of the album:
1. Dragonborn - acoustic folk/alternative metal/Nordic folk
2. The Story of Our Lives - trap metal/heavy metal/power metal/groove metal
3. When the Darkness Comes - trap metal/heavy metal
4. Welcome to Valhalla - Nordic folk/trap metal/power metal/melodic metalcore/cinematic classical
5. Here's to the Years - melodic metalcore/power metal/Nordic folk
6. Siren Song - melodic metalcore/power metal/acoustic folk
7. Down with the Dynasty - melodic metalcore/heavy metal/power metal/trap metal
8. John - alternative rock/alternative metal/heavy metal
9. Not a Person (Freak) - trap metal/deathcore
10. Eat Drink War Repeat - trap metal/crunkcore
11. Ode to Metal - cinematic classical/rap metal/alternative metal/pop punk/melodic metalcore/nu metal
12. Kiss From a Rose - alternative rock/pop rock
13. Finish Line - acoustic folk/alternative metal/heavy metal
Primary genres: Heavy metal, power metal, trap metal, melodic metalcore
Secondary genres: Acoustic folk, alternative metal, Nordic folk
With that I'd like to send Jeris Johnson's "Dragonborn" to the Hall to be added to power metal, while maintaining its position in The Guardians and The Revolution with heavy metal and melodic metalcore.
