Mutoid Man's "War Moans" should be under speed metal
As I review albums from Mutoid Man's discography, I've noticed a lot more in their sound than just stoner metal. Their sound is more like a hodgepodge of different styles. Many songs have the fast fury of hardcore/speed metal and the complex structure of progressive metal, among other rock/metal styles, though in the case of War Moans, the hardcore/speed metal side dominates more than the progressive side while still having the usual stoner metal. It's not until Mutants when this triptych of metal genres become in perfect balance. Here's my genre analysis for the 12 tracks of War Moans:
1. Melt Your Mind - heavy metal/speed metal
2. Bone Chain - heavy metal/speed metal
3. Micro Aggression - speed metal/hardcore punk/thrash metal
4. Kiss of Death - blues rock/stoner metal
5. Date With the Devil - hard rock/stoner metal/progressive metal
6. Headrush - hardcore punk/speed metal/progressive metal
7. Irons in the Fire - heavy metal/speed metal/stoner metal
8. War Moans - speed metal/thrash metal
9. Wreck and Survive - progressive metal/blues rock/stoner metal
10. Afterlife - stoner metal/thrash metal/speed metal
11. Open Flame - thrash metal/speed metal/progressive metal
12. Bandages - stoner metal/gothic metal/doom metal
Primary genres: Speed metal, stoner metal
Secondary genres: Heavy metal, thrash metal, progressive metal
With that I'd like to send Mutoid Man's "Bleeder" to the Hall to be added to The Pit and speed metal, while staying in The Fallen and stoner metal.
This nomination has been posted in the Hall of Judgement.
