Rate the songs from your best of band Spotify playlists

Here's a thread where you can rank one of the best of band playlists you've made on Spotify, track by track! Give a brief description of each track (5 sentences max) and then rate them. I'll start with a band that's "not metal enough" to be in this site but still I used to enjoy with a few moments of metal while staying rock; Nickelback, the "pineapple pizza" of the rock/metal community. Here's the link to my playlist for you to listen along (or not): https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3cYEIIIDDVEeBp3eeHVYHU

1. Curb - 3/5

This isn't too bad for an earlier song. Lead singer Chad Kroeger has more focus and sincerity than new works.

2. Fly - 3.5/5

Nice song and the band's first single. It's about Kroeger's young self wondering about bad people going to Hell.

3. Breathe - 3/5

The songs in The State sound a bit like cheap rip-offs of other bands, with this one being too similar to Fuel...

4. Cowboy Hat - 2.5/5

...And this one sounding too much like a country-style Silverchair.

5. Leader of Men - 3/5

Slightly better but still not impressive enough. Maybe it wasn't so blandly familiar!

6. Old Enough - 3.5/5

This one deserves some more points for its inclusion in the second Blair Witch movie and its soundtrack.

7. Never Again - 4/5

The lyrics of spousal abuse and a bit of swearing my parents wouldn't let me listen to when I was 11 (half of my current age) are still a bit strong, but it really kickstarts the intense rock.

8. How You Remind Me - 4.5/5

This is how Nickelback reached mainstream audiences with thunderous mid-tempo rock in this thick brooding track. 20 years and still a big hit. 10 years and still an amazing rock track for me!

9. Woke Up This Morning - 3/5

I stayed up this night and got my hopes up for this?! At least the killer rock is still on...

10. Too Bad - 3.5/5

Still familiar but quite a pounder, with lyrics of Kroeger looking back at his absent father figure.

11. Someday - 4/5

I'm kinda glad I chose this song because it kept the playlist more interesting for me.

12. Because of You - 4.5/5

Same with this one being a pounding anthem with great vocals, guitars, and drums. Now I wish I could've listened to this song during that small phase of mine...

13. See You at the Show - 3/5

Average, not as spectacular as those previous two. See you in the next album...

14. Animals - 3.5/5

Not too bad, a fun upbeat song to rock on.

15. Savin' Me - 4/5

This one sounds more similar to "How You Remind Me", but that's OK because they're both great songs, though this one has slightly too much drama.

16. Side of a Bullet - 4.5/5

Now this is a killer hard rock/metal tune, written in memory of Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, with a guitar solo sampled from that man himself. Rock on, guys!! RIP Dimebag

17. Rockstar - 3/5

This sarcastic-sounding ballad has a fine sense of humor that isn't too discernible.

18. Burn It to the Ground - 3.5/5

Chugging along like a train is this groovy song that almost tributes again to Pantera with its "Walk"-like pace.

19. Gotta Be Somebody - 4/5

Despite sounding too close to a country band like Lonestar, the rock is still there in an optimistic fashion to create a cool anthem for the ages.

20. Shakin' Hands - 4/5

This is one of the catchiest songs by this band, despite being about a vixen stripper from a Poison song.

21. If Today Was Your Last Day - 4.5/5

In between fast-ish assaults is another brooding ballad-ish song, a streak continuation after the nearly equally amazing singles that end their titles with "Me".

22. This Means War - 5/5

Of all the Nickelback songs I've chosen for this playlist, this is my absolute favorite with low-tuned guitar heaviness slicing more than the ultimate blade fight. Well what can I say, this is really metal, as much as the music I would listen to years after my first encounter with the song. HORNS UP!!!

23. When We Stand Together - 4.5/5

After that, the tuning goes an octave higher and softer for a melodic anthem of social consciousness for rock fans to enjoy (or not).

24. Lullaby - 3/5

Well, back to Kroeger's lovey-dovey ballads, though this is still beautiful...

25. Trying Not to Love You - 2.5/5

...Unlike this one, which sounds like a slower throwback to "Cowboy Hat", and equally bad too.

26. Edge of a Revolution - 3/5

An attempt to take politics but ends up sounding muddied. I appreciate the lyrics of revolution though.

27. What Are You Waiting For? - 2.5/5

Way too much of a poppy tune, as bad as the unchosen "Photograph". Anything worse than this?

28. Get 'Em Up - 2/5

Disco, country, and pop, blended f***ing together. This boring sh*t-mix should not be a thing at all...

29. Feed the Machine - 4/5

The strong title track to Nickelback's currently latest album that marks a return to some of their heaviness, with the addition of industrial beats, tight djenty riffs, and an edgy breakdown. H*ll yeah!!

30. Song on Fire - 2.5/5

After promising ambient tones, the track turns into painfully emotional country. A bad letdown worth skipping...

31. The Betrayal (Act III) - 2.5/5

Yes, ACT 3!!! There's no Act 2, and Act 1 is just an outro. At least we can consider this the second-heaviest song by the band (besides "This Means War") with riffs and breakdowns a bit like Dimebag gone Meshuggah, but still nowhere near the best.

32. The Betrayal (Act I)

I'll skip giving this one a rating because it's a symphonic outro to the album and playlist, not worth mentioning.

And finally, if you're wondering about why I didn't choose a few of their other greatest hits like "Photograph", "Figured You Out", and "This Afternoon"... Yeah, I remembered listening to those songs when I was younger and not liking them. Knowing that my present self will put them down hard, I left them out. Anyway, my Nickelback playlist is a solid one with ups and downs, at least for me anyway, and its total rating shall be 3.5/5.

Now it's your turn! Share what you think of this playlist, or your own best-of band playlists that you feel like sharing, and briefly describe the songs one by one (no more than 5 sentences) with ratings. Enjoy!

Rate your own playlists?  What?  Why?

To share what you think of the songs you've added there, only if you want to, Vinny.

But you've added the songs?  Nobody makes rubbish playlists with songs they don't like?

Anyway, clearly a niche thing I don't understand so will leave this as my only involvement in this thread.

For my playlist, it was to test my tolerance for a band I haven't fully listened to in so many years, whether it's metal or not.
