Any Boards of Canada fans here?
If I was asked what my favourite non-metal artist is (and I don't think anyone ever has), I would provide an immediate answer. Boards of Canada mean an awful lot to me. Their albums connect with me on a very deep and personal level and if I'm ever feeling overwhelmed or stressed, their nostalgic atmosphere calms me down almost immediately. It's for this reason that I've found the past 13 years to be super frustrating, as the Scottish duo haven't released anything since 2013's breathtaking Tomorrow's Harvest.
Well the wait is nearly over! A new album is coming on the 29th of May (which just so happens to be extremely close to my birthday). I cannot wait!
I have recently discovered this artist. There's a track on one of my playlists (playlist is simply called "Chill") from their Music Has The Right To Children album, called 'Sixtyten' that I absolutely love. I have spun Geogaddi a couple of times but need spend more time with them for sure.
I don't listen to BoC music on a regular basis, but they do gorgeous, just gorgeous music nonetheless.
I obviously adore Boards of Canada as you're well aware Ben. Pretty much everything they've done is essential in IDM terms.
I have never ever knowingly listened to them. What is the best release to listen to that might draw me in if I were to check them out?
I have Music Has The Right to Children, Geogaddi and The Campfire Headphase all on vinyl, but it appears I have never listened to Tomorrow's Harvest before (I haven't rated it anyway). I'll need to put that right before the new album.
You could choose any of the three that I mentioned to listen to Sonny to get a feel for them. I have them rated pretty much the same, but on any given day could have a different preference.
