What are your favourite Infinite-related releases?
Inspired by Sonny starting this kind of thread in The Fallen, I decided to give it a go with a different clan. I'll start with my other 3 clans (Guardians, Infinite, and Revolution). If there are any favorite albums you have, please share here. And if they're in a different clan, feel free to start a thread in that clan. In the meantime, what do you think are the best albums (top 10, 20, 30, etc.) in The Infinite? Here's my top 10:
10. Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls (2008)
9. Liquid Tension Experiment - Liquid Tension Experiment 3 (2021)
8. Animals as Leaders - Animals as Leaders (2009)
7. Meshuggah - Catch Thirty-Three (2005)
6. Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I (2012)
5. Maudlin of the Well - Bath (2001)
4. Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor (2004)
3. Sólstafir - Köld (2009)
2. Opeth - Blackwater Park (2001)
Honorable mentions (albums that have more of a progressive thrash sound while staying in The Infinite):
Coroner - Mental Vortex (1991)
Cryptic Shift - Visitations from Enceladus (2020) (not yet in The Infinite, but depending on the outcome of its judgement submission...)
Vektor - Black Future (2009)
Voivod - Dimension Hatross (1988)
And finally #1:
Devin Townsend - Empath (2019)
Here's my top ten for The Infinite which seems to be fairly post-metal heavy. It's also worth noting that I did choose to omit a few due to concerns around qualification:
01. Boris – “Boris At Last -Feedbacker-“ (2003)
02. Rosetta – “The Galilean Satellites” (2005)
03. Neurosis – “Souls At Zero” (1992)
04. Isis – “Panopticon” (2004)
05. Oranssi Pazuzu – “Mestarin kynsi” (2020)
06. Leprous – “Live At Rockefeller Music Hall” (2016)
07. Lucid Planet – “Lucid Planet II” (2020)
08. Mastodon – “Leviathan” (2004)
09. Neurosis – “Times Of Grace” (1999)
10. Neurosis – “A Sun That Never Sets” (2001)
I was referring to my own concerns about qualification Andi as there are definitely a few releases that I'd have included if the lines were less blurred in regards to genrification.
Here's my top twenty Infinite-related albums. If they are on the site under The Infinite then that has given them qualification for the purposes of my list:
