Review by Shezma for Dio - Holy Diver (1983)

Most of the time, I want my metal to be fun. Holy Diver is fun. The titular song is perfect. Of the classic metal songs that I will always have a good time, it's this one. From the "mm hmm hmmMmm" at the beginning I always get chills. You hum that and the "dun dunn dun duhdun" and metal fans will instantly know what song. Not quite as recognizable as like "Smoke on the water's" dun dun duun duh duh duh-dun. But I bet even reading this everyone will get those songs stuck in their head instantly. Holy Diver even starts with the amazing Stand Up and Shout, can't forget that banger of a song, and then there's also Rainbow in the dark? How can you not at the very least like this album. I know everyone has their opinions but this is one of my favorite Heavy Metal albums of all time. Especially in the classics, I may have said that about other bands and albums but I can still hear holy diver and it's many incarnations and still get chills unlike most of Black Sabbaths songs at this point but those are the greatest songs I never want to hear again.
