One of the things that has always annoyed me about the current site is that splits are not attached to the individual bands that took part in them. That's not the case on the new site!

In fact, I've even built an admin tool that allows me to select the bands that the splits should belong to, or to create a new band when an individual band doesn't yet exist on the site. I'm working my way through nearly 700 splits, connecting them all up (and creating new bands when necessary) so that it goes live during final migration.

Yeah, this is probably overdue as it is counter-intuitive that splits cannot be linked to their respective bands, especially for bands like Panopticon where splits make up a sizeable portion of their releases. Would this improvement also allow for the addition of VA releases, such as the legendary "Metal for Muthas" albums?

Not directly, but I could try to allow for it. I assume you mean having the ability to add metal compilations and link individual tracks to bands? I guess the only issue would be that I'd probably need to create multitudes of bands just so that one track could be linked to each of them rather than a full release.

Might be something I come back to after migration.
