Welcome to Metal Academy, Void! The point of this site is, it's indeed a community website for fans of metal to discuss everything metal and discover new releases. There are reviews, but if those aren't your cup of joe, you can give some releases ratings, talk about them in forums, add them to your own personal lists and, if you think a release should be in a different clan/genre, submit it to the Hall of Judgement. And that's just a few of several different ways to contribute. Hope you get the idea and enjoy your time here!

Wow Vinny, that's incredibly unwelcoming to a newcomer not to mention condscending and patronising. What I really resent though is the assumption I'm unaware of accessing porn via any VPN. I ask only that you be respectful of others, including their taste in metal music. I know it's unusual in this day and age for somewhere on the internet to encourage / expect friendly and respectful behaviour, but here we are.

Most likely this newbie only came here to get under people's skins. Nevertheless, I'll play along with this game to prove a few points on the off-chance we meet people who actually think like this because, hey, they exist..
Clans are for determining your favorite types of metal. If you need to melodic stuff specifically, you could join the Guardians. But no. Melody and chord progression are only two pieces of the wide world of music. Do I like them? Yes. Do I like black metal? Also yes. There are such things as melodic and progressive black metal, if you are so wise and learned in these ways you know about them.
Some people try to be too melodic and screw up. Some people can nail the very concept of drawn out sounds and greatly succeed. This is because music isn't only supposed to make you bob your head on the dance floor. Sometimes, it's supposed to make you feel something very strongly. Dancing and headbobbing are just two of these feelings.
