Hello All - new here

Thought I should introduce myself, as I have been adding a whole load or ratings since I joined a couple of days ago. My name is David.

I came across this site on reading one of Sonny's reviews on RYM. I am usually found on RYM on the polls forum where I get involved in numerous genre-based polls including Sonny's metal ones.

Now I would never refer to myself as a true metalhead, probably my maine genres would be noise rock and post-hardcore, but my listening involves a large majority of metal for me to join.

I was big into metal up to around 83 or so and an avid reader of Kerrang! (my gran used to buy each issue for me), but around that time I was looking for something else, what Kerrang was covering was having less interest to me (this was just before the Thrash explosion I guess). So I moved to post-punk, indie rock, grunge, noise rock and post-hardcore before exploring noise and drone. Intestingly, it was drone that drew me back into metal specifically drone metal - which is maybe a strange entry point. A number of years later, I worked with someone who was big into death metal of all sorts and funeral doom, he shared all these bands with me whil I shared post-hardcore, noise rock and pyshedelic rock with him. This led to a bigger exploration of metal and its sub-genres. Do I completely understand what fits into all these sub-genres? Not at all.

I joined the fallen, the horde and the north clans, but i appears I have also rated loads of metalcore as well - so I guess I could have fitted just as well in the clan. I have never been big on writing reviews, but you never know ....

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy your interactions here as we are all pretty chill people and are always pleased to see new members getting involved. There are a few features here that are a little different to other sites, such as the monthly feature releases for each clan and the specific clan playlists that are hosted on Spotify. Yello.  We can always use another metalhead here.

You can get a fourth clan by writing reviews in the Clan List Challenges.  Complete a list challenge for each of your clans, then you can joing the Revolution no problem.  Just make sure they're actual reviews and not mere comments and you're good to go.

It's probably worth pointing out that should you be unhappy with your original clan selections you can easily change them by sending a PM to Ben who will do the necessary.

Oh I should mention that we also have the ability to rate album covers. Just go to the "rate release cover" thing in a release page, select the number of stars, and click "save cover rating". Please feel free to give that a try, David. Though considering the nearly thousand releases you've rated, you don't have to do them all. I don't wanna be responsible for any time wastage.

Thank you all for the welcome and advice. I'm generally happy with the clans I have joined - just wanted to point out that I probably don't consider myself any type of expert of any of them, but have interests across the board. A kind of Jack of All Trades, Master of None type of thing.
