The Infinite - 2022 Roundup

I'm having some issues with my 2022 list this year, so I'm going to try and break everything down by Clan to try and organize my thoughts. Here's my full, ordered list of Infinite albums I've checked out this year, I'd be interested to see anyone else's top 5 or 10 or whatever as we're going into the final month of 2022. A lot of these are carry-overs from other genres since Progressive Metal likes to weed its way into most other genres, but albums like Corpos Transparentes, Tiktaalika, The Endless, and Ode and Elegy have been a treat this year. This one is probably going to be updated heavily before the end of the year.

  1. Tómarúm - Ash in Realms of Stone Icons
  2. Epitaphe - II
  3. Elder - Innate Passage (Not Metal but close enough for my list)
  4. Imperial Triumphant - Spirit of Ecstasy
  5. Brii - Corpos transparentes
  6. Charlie Griffiths - Tiktaalika
  7. Dreadnought - The Endless
  8. Inanna - Void of Unending Depths

My time with progressive/avant-garde/post-metal has been rather turbulent this year while still staying in my position in The Infinite, so I didn't find as many new Infinite albums that would stick with me long as I thought I would, but I can do a top 5:

1. Seventh Wonder - The Testament

2. Dir En Grey - Phalaris

3. Voivod - Synchro Anarchy

4. Persefone - Metanoia

5. Meshuggah - Immutable

One honorable mention is the new In The Woods... album Diversum that I really enjoy, but I would need to give it more listening before it can end up somewhere in my list.
