502 Bad Gateway errors

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the above error and pages refusing to load? I have been encountering it a bit during the last week, but over the last two days it has got worse and worse to the point where it is now making the site almost unusable to be honest. This is an issue on both my laptop and tablet, so isn't down to either of those I don't think. 

A quick search says that the error is a communication problem between originator and server. I haven't experienced it on any other sites, so I wonder if the issue is with the Academy server.

Having the same issue today on some pages - band and album pages. No problem with the forum.

If I use the browser extension for my VPN (PIA), pages work but load slowly. If I don't use the VPN I get the 502 error.

Nope. It all went to crap when I pressed 'Post New Reply'. With and without VPN.

I don't see anything bad about The Gateway right now other than that poor Mirrorcell release. OK, but seriously, I'm also having that issue, and hopefully it will be fixed. I would be lucky to have this comment up after less than a few minutes of trying to post.

Hi all. Sorry, had a 4 day weekend here and haven't spent much time on the site. I've experienced this a few times as well. I'll restart the site and see if it helps.

OK. I noticed resources were being smashed, which probably caused the gateway errors.. A restart seems to have cleared things up.

I have to admit, I'm a little concerned that our recently banned friend could be involved. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Thanks Ben. And now that you mentioned it, maybe it is possible that Void somehow brought in a virus that caused the gateway errors. Of course, we don't know for sure.

I was more thinking a denial of service attack. Just seems a coincidence that the site had extremely high traffic causing failures for the first time ever.

Had this issue again this morning (10am UK time) consistent 502 errors.

I haven't had any issues with this today, Vinny. i had a couple yesterday, but nothing like before Ben reset the server. 

Edit: seriously I must have spoken too soon. Literally two minutes later 502 errors have popped up.

I haven't had any issues today either. I may still have to look out for them though.

I actually only had a couple that may have been entirely coincidental and things generally seem to be ok now, so I doubt if it was connected to the previous issue.

Yep. All the cool kids are experiencing them. I believe it's the arrival of the ultimate apocalypse & only Ben can save humanity. I'll send him a DM to ask him to fix....... Oh wait!

Ben, have you experienced these errors when developing the upcoming new site? If you haven't, then let's hope for not just the new site to be completed and available for us to migrate, but also for a smooth error-free experience there.

The new site is a long way off Andi. I haven't been experiencing any of these errors for 24 hours now. Are they still happening for you? Do they come & go? I'm sure it'll end up being something memory-related & entirely fixable. I haven't spoken to Ben yet as I thought it had been resolved but I'll do so in 4 or 5 hours when it's a reasonable hour in Sydney.

For me, yes, they come and go. When it is bad it is very bad. This afternoon I had to give up because it was taking like a dozen tries to get a page to refresh, although it wasn't too bad earlier in the day, happening only like one in five or six posts. Seens a bit better now too (late evening here).
