The amount of metalcore bands in one of metal's most populous countries, Sweden, has been rising lately, with the djenty Allt being one of those bands. Their first full album, From the New World, is an emotional concept album about a post-apocalyptic world, similar to that of The Last of Us. Anyone in that world can question their existence as they make their journey to find themselves in ravaged lands.

Creativity should never be put down or taken for granted. By listening, you can imagine different scenery that would inspire you for your own stories. Allt can take their storytelling writing to the next level. And when the audience is engaged to the music, that's a great sign...

Eerie background synths open "A Flash of Light" to get listeners hooked for something big. Exploding in heavily is "Remnant", already providing a grand example of the band's alt-ish progressive metalcore. The heaviness is given unique effect throughout. Then we have the dark "Aquilla". Crashing in is another heavy standout in "Memory of Light", one of the most brutal tracks here.

We also have a melodic blast throughout "Echoes", all the way up to a ultra-heavy outro. I'd like to point out how well "The Orphan Breed" can unleash its chaos, yet it doesn't stir up enough attention. "Dissect Yourself" has more of that energetic fury, often morphing between electronic experimentation and raging rhythms.

Things get more hectic and less natural in "Emanate", though it builds up some strength. Now let me tell you, "Ephemeral" is too generic for its good. In saying that, however, that track has a consistent structure that prevents it from heading into stinker territory. "Cycles" is much stronger than most of the album's second half. This is where the band's creativity lets them shine with unique insanity in their sound.

If you have come for progressive djenty metalcore to envision a ruined wasteland, From the New World has it all for you. Allt has impressed me with this strong offering, though most of the strength comes from the first half....
