This is not heavy metal, to me. The second album of Judas Priest and heavier than Rocka Rolla but still not metal to me. There's definitely hints of metal and we all know where they go from here but in my opinion this isn't metal. Proto metal, and very inspiring but not quite to the level that Black Sabbath had already established and I am in the middle of learning about the history of metal so I can't compare too much at the moment but will add to and edit this when I have listened to more of the similar era metal albums. However, at this time listening to this all I could think of was Jimi Hendrix guitar work with Aerosmith's screaming and stylings at time both of which I don't believe anyone considers metal. This is still a solid record but to give my personal opinions of this I do feel like it didn't go all in on the heavy or stick to the hard rock and give it more of a groove. I think I may actually like Rocka Rolla more than this. Not something i'll go back to when they get so much better in time.
