The far-eastern promise of the opening seconds of this album blends well into the increasing aggression of Artillery's particularly raging blend of thrash metal.  Arguably it doesn't go away for much of the opening track as it seems amid all the cutting riffs and screeching vocals the trail that started proceedings remains interwoven into the very atmosphere of the music.

The familiar sound of the vocals of Flemming Rönsdorf is as welcome as ever here as he explores his gruff yet ranged capabilities in full throughout the record.  The other standout part of the sound here is the dual attack of guitarists Michael Stützer and his late brother Morten.  There's a real fluidity to their playing prevalent on here backed up by some dizzying lead work alongside the efficient and energetic riffing.  All the while the bashing drums of Carsten Nielsen provide a perfect rhythmic accompaniment alongside Peter Thorslund's occasionally audible four string rumblings.

The only real downside I catch regularly is that on occasion the production sounds a tad sterile making the drums a little too forward in the mix and a bit "tishy".  There's also a degree of tracks sounding the same in some instances or at least a lack of variation in structure for sure.  But overall this is one fine thrash metal record that somehow gets overlooked in conversations about good albums from 1990.
